Relation between AGN type and host galaxy properties

چکیده

We use 3,213 Active Galactic Nuclei (AGNs) from the $\it{XMM}$-XXL northern field to investigate relation of AGN type with host galaxy properties. Applying a Bayesian method, we derive hardness ratios (HRs) and through these hydrogen column density ($\rm N_H$) for each source. consider as absorbed sources (type-2) those $\rm N_H > 10^{21.5}\, \rm{cm^{-2}}$. examine star formation rate (SFR) well stellar mass (M$_*$) distributions both unabsorbed sources. Our work indicates that there is no significant link between Next, whether power, represented by its X-ray luminosity, L_X$, correlates any deviation galaxy's place so-called Main Sequence galaxies, this separately obscured unobscured populations. To take into account effect M$_*$ redshift on SFR, normalised SFR (SFR$_{norm}$). find correlation L_X$ SFR$_{norm}$, follows approximately same trend sources, result favours standard unification models. Finally, explore connection obscuration, N_H$, SFR. these, suggesting obscuration not related large scale in galaxy.

Decomposition of AGN host galaxy images

We describe an algorithm to decompose deep images of Active Galactic Nuclei into host galaxy and nuclear components. Currently supported are three galaxy models: A de-Vaucouleurs spheroidal, an exponential disc, and a two-component disc+bulge model. Key features of the method are: (semi-)analytic representation of a possibly spatially variable point-spread function; full two-dimensional convolu...

Agn Host Galaxy Morphologies in Cosmos

We use HST/ACS images and a photometric catalog of the COSMOS field to analyze morphologies of the host galaxies of ∼400 AGN candidates at redshifts 0.3 < z < 1.0. We compare the AGN hosts with a sample of non-active galaxies drawn from the COSMOS field to match the magnitude and redshift distribution of the AGN hosts. We perform 2-D surface brightness modeling with GALFIT to yield host galaxy ...

The host galaxy / AGN connection in nearby early - type galaxies ⋆ . Is there a miniature radio - galaxy in every “ core ” galaxy ?

This is the second of a series of three papers exploring the connection between the multiwavelength properties of AGN in nearby early-type galaxies and the characteristics of their hosts. We selected two samples with 5 GHz VLA radio flux measurements down to 1 mJy, reaching levels of radio luminosity as low as 10 erg s. In Paper I we presented a study of the surface brightness profiles for the ...

Observational links between AGN evolution and galaxy growth

There is growing interest in the possible link between the growth of supermassive black holes and the effect of feedback from them on galaxy growth. There are three areas of significant uncertainty: (i) the physics of the feedback; (ii) the prevalence and effectiveness of feedback; (iii) the link between the growth of black holes and their hosts. The 2QZ optical QSO survey indicates that lumino...
